Important information  affecting the Injured Worker In New York State

Injured workers & Internet security

A Warning

It's very important to be aware of internet security and here's something I bet you never thought of:   We recently had a claim where our client had a wireless router in his home and had failed to secure it.  As a result, a private investigator was able to sit in the roadway outside his home and illegally access everything on our client's computer. Our client discovered this by checking the router access log and noting that it showed a user he couldn't identify.

This is a violation of federal law, but it's also a problem we create ourselves whether it's from being lazy, being technologically unsure of ourselves or just oversight. For someone to do this to you is a violation of Federal Law but, to prosecute this, you need to be aware that it took place. Protect yourself first.

New York State Compensation Finishes 50th among the States in Relative Benefit Survey Conducted By AFL-CIO

In a study designed to compare the relationship between the benefit provided and the reality of the financial circumstances in each of the states, New York finished dead last, providing only 50% of the State's average earnings in benefits when the Federal Occupational Health and Safety Commission recommended that the ratio be 200% of the state's average earnings. Idaho finished first of all states and is the only state in the country that meets the recommendations of the commission.
